ABOUT LUCY

Born in Norfolk, Lucy was educated at Mansfield College, Oxford University before embarking on a career in law. After two years training in a commercial city law firm, Lucy qualified as a solicitor, but decided that law was not the career for her. After a period of reflection whilst travelling around Australia and New Zealand, Lucy returned determined to pursue her love of art and embroidery, seeking a more fulfilling career. She enrolled on the three year Apprenticeship scheme at the Royal School of Needlework, a centre of excellence in embroidery, renowned throughout the world. Here she was taught the art of hand embroidery to the highest standards and had the opportunity to work on commissions in the commercial studio such as Sir Paul McCartney’s album cover ‘Ecce Cor Meum’, as well as on a large abstract tapestry for Basil Alkazzi, an artist based in Monaco. Lucy graduated from the Royal School of Needlework receiving a diploma in embroidery with distinction. She was also presented with The Worshipful Company of Gold & Silver Wyre Drawers' prize for best goldwork by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester at Westminster Abbey.

After teaching for a year on the Certified Course at the Royal School of Needlework, Lucy is now running her own freelance business specialising in bespoke embroidered handbags and wedding accessories. She also works at Art Van Go Studios in Knebworth.
