CORPORATE WORLD

This piece was stitched during my Royal School of Needlework apprenticeship and was inspired by my time working in the city. The pound symbol features shapes derived from the £50 note and is based on the colours of a £5 note. The shark represents on-the-ball ruthless businessmen who achieve results, famously being the back drop to BBC2’s “Working Lunch”. The shark and businessman are worked in silk-shading whereby one strand of silk is used in many colours to effectively paint with the needle.
